Do resonator ouds exist?
I was playing the cümbüş in a pub last week and there was another guy there with a resonator mandolin. It occurred to me that these
instruments were invented at about the same time for much the same reason, to create a version of a traditional instrument that could play at
pre-amplification danceband power level.
Banjo-headed versions of the mandolin were also created. But I've never seen a resonator version of the oud, either at its original pitch or up at
cümbüş pitch. An oud-pitch one would be big and heavy, but resonator guitars exist despite that.
Anybody know of one?

I seem to recall seeing a photo of a Persian oud similar to what you describe.
