Curious why he is making these so short. To my knowledge, Nahat never made any ouds 58cm, they are at least 60cm, most are longer than that.
The Arabic oud in general is already fairly small considering the tuning being used, if you use a low 6th course. Making it even shorter makes it difficult to get an even response from the strings in my experience.

On the other hand. I like the string tension I get at full pitch with a 58cm oud. Probably because I always tune down my 60cm ouds. It also allows for high fa tuning.
