A Royal Performance - Farid Performs for King Hussein 11/14/1964
Farid El Atrache performs a taqsim and sings Ba'a Ayez Tensani for the occasion of King Hussein's birthday, Saturday, November 14, 1964. The event
was held at Nadi Ezzubot (General's Club), in Zarqa, Jordan. Prior to this video, the taqsim was available online, but not the whole song. I spent
some time fixing the sound on the taqsim, and came to really appreciate how great it is in the process.
On a personal note, my father was able to attend this private exclusive party at the young age of 20 years old. He had made friends with the band
from a different concert earlier that year, and had the greatest fortune to get invited by them to this event. Not only that, he was able to meet
Farid in the hotel room the night before, and was able to drive back to the hotel with Farid after the performance. Like everyone else who has met
Farid, his recollections are that Farid was very personable, down to earth, joking, treating everyone as friends and equals. What a night!
