All Oud strings are Silver-plated copper wound
Hi everyone,
I would like to share an experience: stringing all the oud with silver-plated copper wound. I asked Pyramid, they sent me the lute strings 905.
Here is a video showing the result, it was in 2019.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd3op7XLmZc
My opinion on this experience is good, I'm not playing a specific melody, just going up and down mostly, to show especially the strings balance. This
point was the strong one : all the strings were balanced , I mean no transition between wound and Nylon...
The other thing, you can notice in the middle of the video that the string (cc) sound like a 'metal', Yes, but it was at the beginning (when it was
new).
Hope it helps some of you who are asking this question.
Cheers

Thank you Hakim !
Yes it is a kind of turkish... not iraqi or even oriental sound, because, I think, we are used to hear the nylon strings on oud on g and c.
The G string (1007 that I use) very tough! it still good many months. For the C (905) I used for 3 months, it doesn't break during, I didn't use it
for longer because it was a trial for me, I still have a new one, maybe I'll put it again on a oud...
Regards,
Khalil

Just want to point out in case there are any newcomers to the oud—this oud has a floating (Bashir) bridge, which is much more tolerant of high
tensions than a standard "classic" i.e., fixed bridge ("sharqi" oud).
While it is possible to string a standard bridge oud with all wound strings, it requires care not to exceed the safe tension.
To my knowledge, Pyramid is the only company making strings both light and strong enough to do this on an oud.
A few players are doing this, it's an interesting sound/choice.

Indeed, I could use this high-tension string because my oud supports it. Thank you Brian for the precision.
I shall add, maybe this strings setup might be used in particular situations like an album for searching a different 'color' sound... this is one of
my conclusions after this experience... I don't think it's a daily oud setup
