Well not really medieval but may be of interest, specially for Kasos and his Marco Polo project:
In fact a french baroque musicien is presently performing in Syria mixing his ensemble xviii-21 with syrian classical arabic one called Twais. It is
a kind of official french culture funded exchange. Since a year more or less they have prepared a hommage to Pietro della Valle a XVIth century
italian misician-voyageur to Turkey, Ottoman, India etc, where he learned languages and music.
What it is not clear for me is whether the concerts are with the two ensembles performing together at the same time or one after the other.
A cd may be published after summer this year.
Excuse me if i divert fm the central subject of this post
May be should be better to open another topic Baroque Lute.
Also i become curious to know more on musical collaborations between medieval and baroque lutes with present arabic ouds. What could be the sound of
those instruments played together ?
Finally i read i think somewhere in this forums that baroque music was "chromatically" near the arabic music. Wasn't you Stephan Andalous ?
