risha

haven't been logging on of late - sorry about that ... been roaming around, bemused in 5ths in mandolinland.

you might be interested to know that we played a 3-day medieval festival in a town called monteriggoni, just north of siena this weekend and i went through - consumed - two of my best cow's horn rishas in the process. they couldn't take the strain; split in half along the seam, cracked along the edges and fell apart. towards the end i had to use an extremely UN-authentic nylon risha which worked very well.

i was surprised at this. i prefer the horn risha because it makes - to me - a much crisper sound than nylon. but if you're into reenactment, which we are, alas ... tights and all ... and considering non-stop play for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and ... etc.. ... you might want to bring along some un-medieval nylon to see you through.

cordiale salute - bill
