Hey Tablah,
Very nice ouds! Can you give us some more information about that first oud? It looks a lot like my shehata. What type of wood is it made of?
Also, are all sabsaby ouds custom made or does he have a shop in syria? Do you know how much his midgrade ouds run for?

hi all thanks for the response. well the first oud is a mustafa, i really am pretty sure, but i had quite a few oudist tell me it looks like the
shehata and sound like it, due to the inlay work i really am unable to see the maker but, i have gotten that numerouse times, and honestly im
beginging to wonder, because the dealer i recieved the oud from, deals with both makers in egypt, and trust me i heard the mustafa brand makes
begenner o intermediate brands, but this oud is neither avg or medicore in sound or in price lol. even my father who plays the sabsaby enjoyed its
sound more. Akram the second oud is made by hussien sabsaby, he has a web site, which i will try to get for u. this oud was giving to my dad which
was passed down to me by a great traditional arabic singer in hims syria named samir amari, he by the way plays riq like no one, and taught many of
the variations in arabic classical rythem from samaee tha2eel and so on to me while i was a youngster. hussein (syrian maker) gave this oud to samir
who in turn gave it to my dad whose an amazing oudist and a more amazing singer. so i dont know eact price but he does have a shop i believe and has
the same one available, i know this from fact because if u go to the video section you will see a great oudist named afif who plays a sabsaby which is
the exact replicate. this leads me to infer that he has some available, by the way afif is from my town of fairuzee in syria and is great oudist. as
far as price , man if i was buying in the middle east iwould think i would by between (for sabsaby) 350-500 u.s and it would retail in the states
for no less then 700 or more, its amazing, my dad has about 15 ouds from syria (all is life), from sukar, ali khaleefee and so on, and the sabsaby is
his favorite, if u noticed how the oud is angular and ribbed if u might say, and shamsayat or qamar amplifes the sound because there arent any lol.
its great. but now u got me wondering about the mustafa. is it a mustafe or shehata?

sorry forgot to answer more quetion about sabsaby, the oud is made fom walnut on the back, and i believe cherry, the mustafa also is walnut, but
mahagony on the finger board. -peace Romeo
heres a pictures of my orgininal babies, i know its a oud site, but this is my original babies, having correct rythem and tempo helps anyone in music
as well as oudist.

Hey Tabla,
Your ouds look wonderfull. As far as your first oud, I'm pretty sure its not a shehata becuase the bridge on a shehata looks a little
different. Also, the pegs on a shehata are usually more rectangular. I would love to hear the sound of that Sabsaby though. The one I heard afif using
seems to be on the upper end. I want to know what a basic sabsaby sounds like because I'm thinking about investing in one. I really love syrian ouds.
Also, the Syrian style of playing has always appealed to me.

Hey Romeo,
Beautiful ouds. I have heard of Mustafa. He is a fine maker in Egypt, and I believe a lot of Naseer Shamma's students at the Oud House play his ouds.
It looks like a lovely oud. You have photos of the back of the oud? Mabrouk to you my friend.
Take care,
Mike
