Ghadban Improv
I have received my new Ghadban 1089 from Oudman and am very pleased with this instrument. Here is my first improv on maqam Hijaz/Nahawand. I am just
starting with Arabic music, so don't really know what I am doing, yet. My doumbek playing is quite rough I know, but I hope to rework it and do a
better recording. Have a listen and let me know what you think, advice, etc...

Thank you syrianoud - yes, I am very happy with my Ghadban and will keep it forever. To make MP3s I use a Tascam Pocketstudio 5. It's a portable
four-track digital recorder with ability to make a final stereo mix in MP3 format. You can then upload it directly to computer via USB port for
placement on web sites. Tascam has since discontinued product, however, there are a few listed on ebay for under $200.
If you already have a soundfile on computer in WAV or other format and just need to convert to MP3 then you could get Audacity, which is free, open
source software for recording and editing sounds. To download, go to <http://audacity.sourceforge.net>

the first time I can play all my instruments togheter so I can record something like a song.
WARNING! Iam singing in this one so you might want to cover your ears lol
Here is a popular lebanese folk song I gave a shot at.

My pleasure, SamirCanada. I am happy my post produced such a positive result. Now, your tune sounds like the real deal - very nice, indeed, and good
singing too. I hope to be able to play music like that one day. How does one go about learning songs like this - is there some site with sheet music?
Also, what about maqam and rhythmic mode?

have the notes for this song and I dont have the maqam or Iqaa I just figure it out after listening to the song.
Good luck let me know if you want help finding music.
Here is the version of the song I tried playing rendered by Fares Karam the young lebanese singer with a strong voice.
