Hey Samir,

He does still make ouds, and they have a very even sound to them. I was able to luckily visit him when I went to Egypt a few months ago. A very nice man, and his shop really makes you feel like you've walked into a part of history. The great Arabic oud players would come to his shop and play for what he has said to be hours on end. Farid, Abdel Wahab, Sunbati, el-Qasabji, even Om Kolthoum! He's located on Mohammed Ali Street, for any one who is able to visit Egypt. He is the second oud shop on the street.

Gamil Georges made ouds in the first half of the 20 th century, This must be his son, since his first name is Georges (probably the grandfather), and his his second name is Gamil (father's first name). Either that or he's about 120 years old!
