Info on Iraqi ouds

Hello all,

I am finding it pretty difficult to get information about Iraqi ouds and makers on the web. I have been interseted in puchasing a Iraqi for a while but have not seen any webpages where I can purchase them. I know yaroub used to have a website but its no longer up. How does one go about contacting makers such as Foad and Monshed? Any info would be highly appreciated.

yaroubs website is still up, yaroub.com it seems to be working fine. The best person to speak to would be Ronny Anderson, a member of this forum, however, i also inquired about ouds of Fawzy and Foad and was unable to get any contact info. maybe youre luck will better.

If you are thinking about the so-called Bashir models, I don't find any other maker who have the skill to produce sound and volume as Fawzy. Unfortunately his instruments are not common outside the Middle east and here on this forum you don't find any info. from musicians using his instruments.

Best wishes

Ronny

Al-Tayyar Iraqi ouds

If anyone is interested in getting a oud from Mr. Al-Tayyar in Montreal Canada they can go about it in English or Arabic as he speaks both fluently and he's a good person to deal with.

I made a correction to this post where I hinted that he spoke a little english. I was making alusion to another person and I got mixed up.
My best and sincere Regards to Ustaz, Al-tayyar
