Kan Zaman
I had a few questions about the KanZaman ensemble. I was wondering if anyone had there full legnth performances on video and if it was possible to
download them. I really enjoy there music. Also I wonder how many people of middle eastern decent found there way to California and on top of that
they managed to find enough musicians to form a esemble of respectable size.
Respect to KanZaman for that its really impressive. I just wish I had an esemble like that near by.

Hey Samir,
As far as I know, there was a video that was made available to the public of one of Kan Zaman's performances. It was offered for a $15 donation
through the http://www.kanzaman.org site. Your best bet would be to contact Wael Kakish at kzaman(-at-)kanzaman.org. Just replace the (-at-) with @.
As for other recordings, Mike graciously offers us some clips through this site, most of which you can find here:

Each person has their own story on how they found Kan Zaman. It was formed in 1994 by a group of musicians, and I do believe that Professor Ali Jihad
Racy was involved in it. The members of Kan Zaman have changed throughout the years, and continue to acquire new musicians over time.
I have to tell you that California (at least Southern California) is filled with people of Middle Eastern decent. The ensemble did not start out with
a great deal of musicians. Maybe 4 or 5, I would say. But it's certainly grown since then. Kan Zaman is non-profit, the musicians aren't paid in any
way, and so the musicians that play for Kan Zaman do so purely for the love of the music. It really brings a great sound to the stage.
You are welcome to come down to see our concerts if you can. I realize it's quite the distance, but I know of people that come across long distances
just so that they could be able to hear somje great Arabic music for a few hours.
They really are great musicians, and great people as well.
