Which string to which peg??
David Parfitt Oud website
The David Parfitt oud site shows a diagram for which string goes to which peg. I have an electric oud which is strung slightly differently. I
can't say exactly how as I'm sending this from work and the instrument is at home! However, I bought it in Turkey and the man who sold it to
me sells a lot of ouds and I would have expected him to know which string goes where.
Is there a single standard way of stringing an 11 string oud with a single low bass string? Is the Parfitt one correct? I'm not talking about
tuning but which string goes to which peg.

Hello Vince,
You might want to try contacting Viken Najarian. He can help you with any information regarding electric ouds.
When you find out, can you let us know why electrics are strung up differently?
Take care,
Mike

I will do so..thanks.
Its just the lowest few strings that are arranged differently but I suspect its got nothing to do with the fact that the instrument is electric;
everything about the neck and tuning pegs etc is completely the same as an acoustic.
It may be that they string them differently in Turkey from Arabic-speaking countries. Does anyone know? Does anyone else on this forum string theirs
differently from the David Parfitt diagram?

I've restrung the oud according to the Parfitt diagram and it seems to be fine.
Its the first time I've strung an oud and the bridge end was OK but the tuning peg end was very fiddly! I wouldn't want to have to try it
quickly during a gig after breaking a string....
