Analyse this peice.
This is a peice of a Iraqi song. I got it from the Video Walid and Ronny Andersson posted about Fouad Jihad. Its played by the oud player Ali Saba.
This guy is absolutly amazing. And I listen to it over and over. Its full of modulations for you that enjoy them. I wish I could post the video my
self but its a rather big file. Maybe Ronny could give use some insight on this peice and maybe some analysis too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I
do. Thank you Ronny posting this in the first place.

Interesting parts I noted.
0:45: interesting scales being developed. untill 1:05
1:29 Modulation to another maqam I really love this part.
2:27 I dont know if its in another maqam but there's really nice rythm to this part. there's a nice variation at 2:47 and the same thing again at
2:52
Then the initial feel is restablished at 3:38.
What do you think the maqams used in these modulations are?

Its tuned Iraqi style I know the highest string is tune to a high F because it sounds high yet he's not playing down the fingerboard.
Do you have any idea what this maqam could be? especialy at the 1:29 part.

i think this maqam he modulates to is called suzidil, its like a shadd araban on A, but i could be mistaken, maybe the vetrans can help me out.
that is a bueatiful piece, thanks for sharing.

This sounds on first hearing like a sama'i in maqam Kurd. It has four khanes, each followed by a taslim (refrain). The first three movements and the
refrain are in the standard sama'i 10/8 time. I think that the second movement modulates to Ajam and the third to Suzidil (a descending Hijaz Zirgule
scale with a higher Hijaz tetrachord and a lower Hijaz pentachord), but I will listen to the piece again to make sure.
Anyone know who composed this piece?

I dont know who composed it. I think Naseer Shamma could be behind it since I read that the player Ali Saba was one of his students before. I cant
tell you for shure tho. Thank you for your insights its really helpfull. I think that to play those high parts a Higher F string is almost essential
but then again many would say that Its possible to play down the neck on the high C string with no problem but its certainly is more difficult for me.
On another note are you from Halab? or do you live in Halab? Its a beutifull city.

This is a nice piece to play. Thanks for posting it. Some passages do require you to play up the first string and into the extension of the
fingerboard, so having a higher F string would make it easier to tackle them. I am assuming that the performer is playing the piece on an Iraqi oud.
You could play the piece one string (a fourth) lower.
Yes, my family if from Halab. It is a beautiful city. and also famous as a major center of traditional music.
