Learn to Play!
Hello Everyone,
I have come across this cd that takes you through the main maqamat and teaches you how to play them. I thought I would share those recordings
with the forums. I will be posting a different maqam over the next week or so.
First we will start with the introduction

Unforutnately, these files are larger that 1mb. If someone can show me a program that compresses them, I will be more than happy to get them up.

The CD
I have this recording, and it is a good CD, and fairly easy to come by - I have a copy, and have given several as gifts.
Arabic Maqams Made Simple
by Aboudi Badawi
I got my first copy off eBay, and bought several others via Amazon.com

This is very good stuff guys! It's a blessing for a poor italian that doesn't have any other resource in his country...but what about the other

Be good and play the oud!

With the help of Samir, I'll try to get those files up within the next two days. Glad to see that people are getting some use out of them!

Hi
You guys have probably seen these before, but there are a couple of other resources available that are similar to the one mentioned above:
(1) "Basic Maqam Teaching" by Cameron Powers, available from Maqam.com (not sure how good this is though!)
(2) The Arabic Maqam World website (this has sound files of excerpts from several compositions in each maqam).
Once again, sorry if I'm repeating info you already have.
All the best
David
