Samir Joubran & bro Trio documentary TV in french Arte
Did any body looked at this doc tv last Thursday 8th december on french tv cannel arte ?
It is a key moment in their artistic evolution, the way it is filmed is full of sincerity, simply as they are. It makes good to each one's humanity to
look at.

Hi
I had a look at the Trio Joubran website, and the discography section mentions two albums "Taqaseem" and "Sou'Fahm" by Samir Joubran. Does anyone have
these albums? No doubt the first one is solo oud, but how about the second?

The first two are only Samir Joubran. Ther are a third album called Tamaas in duo with his brother Wissam the luthier and a fourth one with small
brother Adnan who grew up (he is about twenty). This last album with Trio is called Randana.
I do not have two first, i heared third one called Tamaas, you can also hear it in full at

For me he is playing real traditional "maqam" as a 21st century man.
But may be some would say that there are some abandonnment of maqam.
In any case, he plays with virtuosity, with real big soul and swing, emotionally and sincerity, with lot of tremolos. Some times whole scales only in
tremolos
I am not very acquainted with maqam yet but i think there are lot of nahawand, may be to better reach "occidental' ears used with minors.
Also it is so beautiful to hear (and to see when playing live) the perfect symbiosis when dialoguing with the brothers.
