My New Oud. Higazi, Alexandria

Hi everyone. I have not contributed in a while. I just got from being in Egypt for a while. While there I went and bought a new oud. I have been playing, and continue to play instruments by Alaa Higazi. I have tried out Shehatas, Ghadbans, Khalifas and Najarians, but I keep going back to Higazi whose workmanship is very very clean, and his tonality is just excellent. So I thought I should post some pics of the new one, and some of an older one to introduce everyone to an Egyptian oud maker whose workmanship is just heavenly.

Hi Ofadel,

Thanks for posting the photos and information. The ouds are beautiful! So, how much did you pay? (And what was his initial asking price?)

Thanks,
John

Salaam Ya Ofadel,
What is the price range and the lead time?
What are the advantages, in your opinion, that will make me pick a Hegazy oud over any other maker?
Maa Tahyati,
Hatem

Mabrouk.
The bowl and the shamsiyyat looks big though may be is an optical effect of the photo.
I like ouds with big bowls like ancient ouds

Matthew,

The last time I spoke with Mr Higazi he mentioned that someone or another was building him a website. I am going to see him in the next couple of months and will ask him if he has entered the digital world yet.

best
