When you play in front of people they Also prevent people from throwing pocket change inside your oud. :D

I agree with your opinion jazzchiss. Indeed specific timber of this type ouds partly depends on the rosettes.

here are a few new pictures sent to me by mr. Al- Tayyar

You can see a nice example of his 3D Shamsiya made of a combination of ebony and bone. The rest of the oud is made of 60 year old walnut.
