Request for Longa Yorgo
I'm sure some people have this amazing Longa in their files. If so, please post. It's maqam Sultani Yegah.
All versions of it are fine. But I wonder... does anyone have Bacanos' own recording of this? I'd like to hear how he wanted it to be
played.
Thanks in advance,

i'm pretty sure there has to be a recording of him playing this piece somewhere, b/c everyone isn't sure he wrote it. I've seen in some
music books where it's noted that the piece might have been brought in to Istanbul by Sadi Isilay from Romania.
Who knows where that recording is though?
Here is a very modern version on kanun by Halil Karaduman (thanks again spyros).

Thanks for the post, Mav! You know, in the taksim before the Longa, it sounds kind of jazzy at the 1:00 mark. He does a great job with the whole
thing. Thanks for bringin it to us, Mav.

By the way, just to clear somethin up in my head... is it a longa or a sirto? Because I hear that it's called both... now I just dunno! Any
definite answer?

it's weird, b/c it has a longa in it, but starts in 5/8. so i've seen it called, longa, sirto, and skopos (a loose term for a
composition).
don't fret it, just play it...lol

Heck, while we're at it, why don't we post the notes for it too. I'm not sure if there are several versions of this. If you have
another, please post it.
Mav, thanks for the second clip! You rock, man!

you notice that the notes you posted are only part of the composition. here is the version i have, though different people repeat different sections
more times or less times, depending. this is from the great book by Christos Tsiamoulis and Paulos Ereunidis, GREEK COMPOSERS OF ISTANBUL (17th-20th
cent).
the pages are really large, so the tops and bottoms of the pages were cut off unfortunately.

TP21,
I deleted the attachment from your post, and will re-attach here. I just basically made it a little bit smaller. Thanks for posting it though bud.
