Surfing and the oud

Fascinating story about Dick Dale and the Del Tones, and the origins of his famous surfer guitar riff. Who knew that Dick Dale was Lebanese? All I have to say is "God Bless America" :xtreme:

I used to see Dick Dale at the Avalon Ballroom in Newport Beach when I was a surfer in San Clemente and a beach lifeguard in South Laguna California! This was 8 or 9 years before I first heard an oud, but that "Miserlou" sorta got to me...The world gets smaller every day!
