The oud you just linked too isnt made by anyone in the Nahat family. But by an another maker name Mahran who is compared here to Nahat's work.
Its a nice oud your right... but it doenst have anything in common with Sam's pictures.
Here you can definetly see that its a old oud with the color of the wood on the face. Its not something you can duplicate easily. Also the workmanship
is much better on the Mahran.
The thing is... its not absolutely impossible that its WAS a Nahat... only it cant be called that anymore since the replacement parts are Obvious to
many people.

I don't see the similarity with the Mahran.

I don't either. You could visit my Nahat Museumand compare these ouds with authenticated Nahats. I was in Damascus looking for a Nahat oud and I found many counterfeits - they had
the label, or the Rose or the body, but not the complete oud. My advice is to pass on the deal.

Hi,
Thanks all for you for the great advice, its confirmed now, I took it to an expert in Damascus, he said the datchborad, pegs are new ones. the back is
the real nahat one.
the best price I could get for this oud is $450 ? what do you guys think ?
I was offered today another 2 ouds, Im very sure these ouds are so old and nothing has been changed, the datchboard looks old and the pegs as well. I
will post some more pictures to see what you guys think.
Thanks a lot,

I would not be so sure that even the bowl/back was authentic.
And, if a dealer tried to pass off a counterfeit oud on me, I would not stick around to see the other one he was offering.
This whole line of questioning seems odd to me. So, now you know it is not authentic, but you are willing to pay $450 for it?

Thanks for the advice Jonathan, but the dealer was not trying to cheat me, the ways it works, all Antique shops downtown get people that pass by their
places to sell them things they have. I know the guy well, he is not an oud expert. he called few people that left their phone number to bring Nahat
ouds.
I have seen 4 so far, I posted a picture of a new one that I saw lastnight and I will be posting pictures of another one later on tonight. I'm hoping
I can find the right one soon cause Im traveling back to the US.
