Looking for Oud Bass
Hi, I just saw this Hanna Nahat oud bass on a website... it looks absolutely delicious! I am wondering if anyone is selling or knows where I can get
one I would really appreciate it.

I am not sure if your looking for specifically a Nahat oud bass, but Nazih Ghadban makes oud basses. http://www.oudnazihghadban.com

I've had a question about oud basses for a while, and now seems like the best time to ask since you all seem to know about it... what does the
oud bass sound like exactly? And what characteristics does it have that separates out from our ordinary (yet fantastic) oud?
Thanks in advance.

all i know is that the oud bass produces a deeper sound and the strings are thicker than the usual... as for physical appearance, i think that they
are pretty much identical except the face (and dome consequentially) are wider and more rectangle.

I really don't know what the difference is between the two, but you should email Nazih and ask him. He's helpful

oud bass
An oud bass string is 64 c.m, and about 42 c.m is the width of the soundboard, this is what NAHAT's made.
Also Jamil Georgy made bass ouds.
The oud in the early days used to play the bass part in the Arab Taght (ensemble) before the double bass was intoduced by Abdel wahab.
For this reason an Arab oud has more bass in it than a Turkish or Armenian oud.
I have not seen any Ghadban bass oud yet, but would like to.
Hope this will help.

Did anyone end up finding an oud bass? If so, can we hear a sound file of it? Does it sound something like Farid's oud in Nagham Fi Hayati (check
out the Vids page on the main site for it).
