Hey Adnan,
You'll most likely find the song as sung by Fairouz. It's much easier to find it that way. I'm not aware of a recording of Sayyed Darweesh singing it.
If you still can't find it, let me know. I'll post the mp3.

Hey Peter,
Yeah I already have the Fairouz version. Can anyone confirm that Sayed Darweesh was the composer? It would be nice to find a recording of him singing
it.

I you have access to zeryab, this is a link to a part of a very old recording of the song. It sounds like Sayyid Darwish, but I cannot confirm it.

Yes, Sayyid Darwish is the composer of "Zuruni.". He also composed other lovely songs that have been classics, like "al-Hilwa di," "Ah ya hilu," and
the muwashshah "Ya shadi al-alhan."

for some reason, I am unable to register on the Zeryab forums. It tells me that an administrator has disabeled registration. Do you mind posting here

By the way, there was a more recent rendition of Zourouni in Oumeima's Mazaj.
You can listen to it over here.

Thanks Hamid, that sayyed Darweesh rendition is great. Kind of rough but really gives you a feel for why this song is so great in the first place. It
is true egyptian and arabic folklore.
I have to say that Oumeima Mazaj's version is a prime example of what happens when musicians try to take classical middle eastern tunes and place a
western feel in an attempt to modernize it. The result is a cheap trashy rendition lacking any sense of identity.
