yo Sammy,

does the tin percussion from the Yemeni Jewish tradition still survive? Ive heard old recordings of tribal Jews from Yemen (when they were still in Yemen) playing the hell out of what sounded like tin plates with timbre, kind of like the morrocan castenets, but sick!

I'm just wondering, I know traditions get lost (like in israel or even the pop scenes in egypt and lebanon where, unfortunately, fake keyboard sounds replace good ole' sweat and caluses...)

-Sammy

thank God- you know how things get lost, and whoever usually "recovers" these lost cultural elements often romantisize them and produce over the top, crap... sorry, I'm just passionate about our peoples (Semites, specifically) keeping our 'ish tight, you know?
