Lost: tools, wood, instruments
A recent domestic dispute has resulted in the loss of my tools, wood and many instruments including 3 antique oud parts destined for restoration. Lost
wood includes 5 face sets of 35 year old German spruce, 5 sets of 15-20 year Engleman spruce, several aged rib sets, inlay, pegs and misc parts.
Instruments include 2 Persian santurs, 2 Turkish sazes, several neys, reed pipes and horns, bagpipes as well as an old Mexican Guitarron and Vihuela.
Tools include antique chisels, hand planes, power hand tools, bits and many other small tools. If anyone has puchased any of these items recently
from the Washington state since May, I would appreciate any information leading to their recovery.

Truly sorry to hear this. I would think that it is possible that your lost personal property could show up on ebay if it hasn't already.

Dear Doc O.
I just wanted to wish you the best in these difficult times my friend. I don't think there is a more helpful and kind person on the forums than you.
You have always been willing to answer questions and provide advice to even the most silliest of questions...many of them mine, remember? Anyway, I wish you the speediest recovery of all or at the very least some
of your possessions. We are all on look out like Tarik said.
Sincerest best wishes,
Mike

Thanks to everyone for their concern and kindness. I don't wish any ill feelings or revenge, I know it is just an act of pain and dissapointment. I've
been checking ebay, but haven't seen anything. I've also notified other luthier forums and organizations in case anything goes on the market. My fear
is that everything is just gone.

I am happy to report that after a year of anguish and due to some good lawyering and the US Justice system - I have recovered my ouds and wood
including a 1905 Roufan back, a 1900 Hanna face, a 1960 Mahmoud Haddad (previously mistaken for a George Nahat) and a new nearly completed Bashir
replica and an old Persian tar. Wood recovered included 50 year old German spruce face sets, engleman spruce soundboards from Robert Lundberg's
stash; a quantity of 35 year old mahogany and teak billets, 10 santur sets from 25 year old walnut, and a stack of 30 year old plum wood. (no tools,
but the court awarded me compensation for my lost property - no worries). Yipeee!

HA!
Good for you Richard! I had a feeling your wood would turn up! Sorry about the tools, though they're so much easier to replace than the more
valuable wood. Did all the little missing pearl pieces show up too?
See ya...and congrats again!

I didn't recover any of the collection of old inlay pieces, pegs, and other small parts, but the major pieces of spruce are all undamaged, aa is the
face for the Bashir project. Now I just need more time.
My current project is a solid body oud based on the Manol string length, with a saddle transducer and on-board pre-amp. Look out!
