thx sammy | Pledge is fine for the back, neck and fingerboard. Be careful not to get any on the face, though.
The face is probable glued with hide glue, you can test it with a little warm water. If the glue softenes, it's hide. You cen reglue it with hide
glue, but don't use the liquid glue sold at the harware store as it is not strong enough. Hide glue requires some knowledge to prepare, but it is the best for instrument work. Here's a simple balance I use to measure the mixture
Otherwise, the old glue needs to be cleaned away for any other glue to adhere to the wood. You can use yellow carpenter's glue, known as Titebond,
Elmer's, etc. It's generic name is aliphatic resin. You can hold the face down with masking tape or strips of rubber cut from bicycle inner tubes.
Use just enough tension to hold the face down.

liquid hide glue products and found they are only useful for gluing paper labels. The locked mitre joint in the review has rather large multiple glue
surfaces that contribute a lot to the strength of the glue joint. Most of the glue joints in an oud have small surface area that requires the greatest
possible adhesion while allowing for disassembly for repair. Only cooked hide glue meets these requirements. glue test liquid hide glue review hide glue glue chart
