THE INTERNATIONAL OUD FESTIVAL IN OMAN
Hi oud lovers,
I have been watching this great oud gathering, its awesome oud players from all over the world gathered from the 3rd of December, live oud playing and
workshops which I've sadlly missed due to time difference, I hope one of the forum members was there to tell us more.. I've managed to video tape most
of the live sessions and I will try and load some up.
Last night was Nasser Shamma and he was great as ever, today is the last day of the festival I can't waite to see and I will tape as well

Hi guys,
I'll try and load some of the videos I've got hopefuly on the weekend as I have to convert them from VHS,
Hi Fyenix, Osman Yurdal was amazing on the night, great oudist I kept replaying his music again and again, the Turkish oud he played was awesome loud
and clear, I liked the guy very much and I will upload his video of that night best regards if you see him, I expected something new from Naseer Shama
though.
The event was great but greatly Abadi Aljohar was missed, and I think that was due to the recent passing of his wife.

yurdal's oud was build by faruk turunz. image attached seeing me passing some sample of woods that grow in my country that can be use for instrument
making to faruk turunz at his booth. he also bring all his special tools for oud making and explain to us how they work.

apart from the oud playing workshop we had every morning with all the oud players i also manage to have a master class with yurdal privately. image

hi abusin im sure you notice that abadi johar already been feature in the 1st muscat oud festival held last year. the only new about naseer's
performance was during the morning session where he explain about the maqam he created plus giving sample of maqam differences ie between awj and
rahwat el arwah. below shown naseer trying ibrahim el sukar's iraqi style oud.

Hi Fyenix, yes my wife taped that for me ( the interview), but I've been busy since and didn't have the chance to see it, I'll do this weekend and
hopefuly load some of the video's, man I remember now I saw you sitting in the front and I think you had a video camera if am not mistaken and if
thats correct you may be able to load the files faster than me as I have to conver them first from VHS.
by the way madam Gulcin was fantastic too,

I was too looking to see if I can find DVD's for the two events, I emailed the Sultanate of Oman tv to find out but so far no reply from them I'll try
them again and will try other resources,

hi beas.one the name of the maqam are hikmah, koot and lail but he was only explaining about hikmah through out the workshop.

hi abusin, yeah i do managed to capture the whole thing though im not sitting at the front row. im using mini dv and will transfer all of them into my
hard drive soon for editing, it would take sometimes though. the one shown on tv are way better than my one as the organizer was using 3 stationary
cameras plus 1 moving overhead camera. it was shown on the national television after the performance daily and it was nicely edited! the event was not
under the sultante of oman tv but it is under the ministery of information.

hi i would like to recommend this book to everyone who is interested in turkish style of oud playing by dr gulcin yahya which i received it as a gift
from her during this meeting. it contains 53 etudes along with audio cd. this book pack with pictures, diagrams and notations and its in turkish.
