Nauba Zarkka - Hayim Luck (Moroccan-Algerian Nauba)
This starts with a beautiful taqsim on the oud (seems though as
if the taqsims/mawals on the ala andalusian music, at least the Moroccan one, are "fixed" and it's not as if one can shift from
one to another to the other as in the traditional arabic maqams...Nonetheless, this music never fails to move me!!!)
in Nauba Zarkka and a mawwal performed by Hayim Luck,
a well known and respected singer of that form.
he then goes to the mizzan which is usually the series
of songs based on the nauba, starting at the slowest rhythm
and then gradually increasing it to the insiraf, the fastest
rhythm (that i know of) and actually quite enjoyable one.
in this mizzan, however, i reckon due to time constraint and the concert program, he sang 2 songs, one in a rather slow rhythm
and then ended with the fastest one.
You're gonna love it
