To live in Cairo

Hi all!
I believe next year I will go to
study to Cairo.
Can you tell me how much money costs to rent a little apartment in Cairo per month?
I want to do to me an idea of all the money I need to live in Cairo per month(with food, buses or taxis...)
Help me please!!!

I donĀ“t want a luxury place and apartment...a little apartment and a simple way of life,
Is it possible a nice apartment in a calm neighborhood for about 300 US dollars?

Calm neighborhood and Cairo dont belong in the same sentence,
Also you should be carefull if you dont have a good egyptian accent in your arabic you will be taken advantage of on a lot of levels. If you dont even speak arabic you will be paying a lot for things. So I sugest you make friends with an egyptian and have him do the bargaining for you.

Samir hit the nail on the head. There is a little sympathy for being palestinian tho, it does help out but not in every occasion. Cairo is a bustling city with 18 million people. people walk among the cars, and it gets worse at night.

the exchange rate is about 5 egyptian pounds for one us dollar. a dollar goes a long way but you really have to work to save your money because as samir said, theres an egyptian price and thers an everyone else price and the egyptian price isnt just earned for being egyptian. its earned for bargaining for everything.
