Alla

Hi

Can anyone give me any info on CDs by the Algerian oud player 'Alla'. I am really interested in any solo oud CDs without harmonica (or other instruments of torture!) on them.

Best wishes

David

Hi Dubai244

Thanks for the tip, but I am already familiar with these guys. I was specifically looking for info on Alla really, as I do not have any of his CDs.

Best wishes

David

P.S. I have listed the CDs (according to artist) in my collection at:

David,

I have two Alla CD's. One is solo; the other has some percussion accompaniment. I don't have them with me at work but I recall them both being on Al Sur. I'll e-mail you the specific titles after I get home. Both are excellent, by the way.

David,

The two "Alla" CD's I have were both issued by Al Sur. The first appears to self-titled. The catalog number is ALCD 110 and was issued in 1992. The second I have is titled “Taghit.” It is catalog number ALCD 132, and it looks to have been produced in 1994. On both of the CD covers it also says “”Foundou from Bechar,” which apparently refers to his nickname and the town where he resides. The first CD has copy in both French and English about his life. Surprisingly, the second CD has no copy other than track titles and credits.

If you need more information, feel free to contact me off list.

Cheers,
William
