Songs From The Labyrinth

Saw this program the other night and was very impressed with the lutenist. I haven't quite decided yet what I think of Sting's singing, but the project was very interesting.

Sting is definitely not an operatic Valkriye type singer, but its very likely that thats how John dowland actually sang. Sting got a lot of Crap for this album, but I really think he did something good with it. This is what turned me on to the beautiful music of John Dowland.

My recommended lutenists:

1) Hopkinson Smith: http://www.hopkinsonsmith.com/
2) Paul O'Dette: http://www.esm.rochester.edu/faculty/?id=115
3) Jacob Heringman: http://www.heringman.com/

DISCLAIMER: Jacob Heringman and I are related by marriage.

Enjoy,
John

I just re-read my post. Not to sound homophobia here, but just to clarify: Jake's brother is married to my wife's cousin.:D

Best,
John
