Hi
I need an advice for turkish oud, strings and tuning.
If i want to tune a turkish oud with arabic tuning:
-is it possible?(CFADGC)
-if yes,can i use an arabic strings set,or i have to use a turkish set, even i tune it arabic?(i use to buy the pyramid stings set)
Thank you for the advices

hi bruno
I allways tune my turkish ouds to CEAdgc witch is on the 5th string a half step lower than your tuning. I never found any problem with this tuning
with any strings like
pyramid or la bella now i play aquila-nylcut strings. in my opinion they are the best.
it is better to use strings for arabic tuning on your turkish oud if you tune it down to arabic so you get more bass.... on some ouds it feels better
as well.
and a turkish oud in his normal tune can much louder.
it is also a question of your taste.
and never tune a arabic oud turkish it may demage

i forgot this:
pyramid strings for turkish oud are in very low tension (very thin wires)
you may don't get enough volume when you are playing with
other musicians
