Pegs


Marhaba people ,

i just put new string on my oud and i noticed that the pegs are so stiff and every time i turn 'em wood pieces fall off , is there a peg lubricant or anything like , this is an old oud i got and i am trying to fix.

please any body got anything please let me know.

If pieces of wood are falling off you've got bigger problems that any peg dope can fix. Violin hsopd and most music store sell peg dope from various Manufacturers. I like the Hill's - it looks like a brown crayon and comes in a lipstick tube. A little goes a long way, you only need to apply one line around the peg at each sopot where the peg engages the pegbox wall, and only once. more is not better.

The best is to take the oud to professional luthier and he will say what can you do with it.
