Sabah Fakhri movements were said to be old fashioned men dance steps of old times, as he once explained.
He used to be a student of a very old dance called "Samah" where men used to perform it for the Abbassid Khaliffs and later on to the Turkish Ottoman
Sultans in their royal courts. This dance is charecterized as being based on sets of steps that dancers may not digress from and improvise their own
steps, and usually performed in a large group of at least 14 dancers.
This dance is still taught in music institutes in Aleppo-Syria, and still performed only as a contribution dedicated to commemorate the old classic
arts of music and dance in festivals held in Syria.
