staining the face

Hey guy
I hope you guys are doin well??

I have a question to ask you, I bought a oud from haluk a few years back in israel , and now the face is very dirty and has sweat stains and also glue stain from when the pick guard fell off and i am not sure what to do at this piont .

I made my own pick guard its a lil hurendous but w/e.

i would liek to make the face darker or as dark as i can get it beasuce of the stain , what do i do and use.

Hey Sammy,

You may be able to remove all the gue and glue stains with lacquer thinners. I bought two "model-3" Haluk ouds that had badly made and badly fitted mizraplek, so had to replace both. The lacquer thinners worked for me.

The sweat stains look normal for an oud with an unfinished face. I would leave them.

Regards,

Greg

Use it sparingly Sammy, because you don't want the stain to spread. I just used it to soften the glue and then carefully scraped it off. When you have the bulk of it off, you should then be able to rub the rest off with a thinners dampened cloth. Good luck.
