anybody know about this thinbody oud on ebay?

Profi Stage and Studio Oud Ud Laute Walnut Thinbody?

It looks electric, but not like the usual electric body type we've seen. Here's the ebay link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Profi-Stage-and-Studio-Oud-Ud-Laute-Walnut-Thin...

I wonder if it might be semi-hollow? Might give a little more "oud" to the sound...or it might just feedback constantly.

Hi,

I dont know about this oud. But my advise to you, becareful from these

advertisments even it is "Ebay". Basiclly any body can pay money and put

advertisment on ebay and other advertisments web, But you never know is it

true or not. So becareful.

Second thing, have you notice the price on Ebay is 795 $ + 60 $ shipping, While

if you visit the web site cataloge, the price of the same oud is 599 $. Go and check it

Cheers ;)

The 599 is Euro. That converts to around US$802 at today's exchange rate.

The EQ/Volume controls on the side of the oud look very much like Fishman, so it may be a good quality product. I note the selling company has an eBay feedback of 99.9% on 1181 transactions, so they appear to have a lot of happy customers.

Regards,

Greg

Thanks for the info guys

I always try and be careful of instruments on ebay. I wish I could read German--I think the website is in German...
I've always thought the super thin mahagony electric ouds, just don't have as quite a natural sound---maybe a semi-hollow with a fishman might be better. Somtimes I play with rock bands and I thought it might be right up my alley. oh, well, I'll wait to see if anything comes up about it.

Although their ads are in German I think the sellers are fluent in English. I ordered some strings from them one time and I had a few questions which were answered quickly. Maybe they even have a soundclip of the oud?

You can view both, the ebay ad and their website in English if you click on the UK flag icon. On ebay, it's right under the oud photo, while on their website the icon is on the left between the German and the Turkish ones.

Hope this helps.

They're totally reliable!

It sure looks like an electro-acoustic oud to me... I wonder how the sound will be?

I know this is getting off topic, but I had just ordered a flat back saz this week ("zenne" is what they were calling it). I had a problem holding the regular baglama because I could not comfortably rest my forearm on the instrument because of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I am looking forward to taking up this instrument again. I love the lute back shape of a regular saz, but just like my Greek bouzouki it is hard to balance it on your lap because of the length of the neck (unlike the oud).

Isn't' there a guy in LA that sells flat back ouds?
