Wow, talk about a warm welcome from an audience! They really loved Farido! what great playing and charisma.I was also intrigued by the oud he was
playing, it seemed to have something like fret lines on the fingerboard. I've seen this on other ouds as well; can anyone offer any insights into
these lines- are they just purely decorative or actually mark out 'fret' positions? Thanks for posting it SamirCanada!

Hi Michoud
Hmmmn, I may be wrong but I believe that is one Farid's taqsim works. IF that is the case then it's highly likely that it was never written down.
However, some enthusiast out there may have sweated blood over it, figured it out and put it on paper.
I'm happy to be corrected if I'm off track here

Hey Samir,
That's one awsome video you pointed out of the king
I noticed that this gentleman (Hani Safi) has uploaded more than a thousand videos so far on his YouTube channel !. Really impressive effort...and
what a great collection of classics he's got
Regards,
O.P

Yes Samir. My guess too is the TV.......OR....the satellite with it's zillion channels now. Occasionally you get lucky late at night seeing rare
videos of Farido....or El-Sit.....etc.....standing before your very eyes on a "Classics Channel". That's one main cause of sleep deprivation as you
can imagine

Pretty sure that's a taqasim in Kurd (on D). Looks like his tuning is CFAdgc'.

Believe it's F A D G C (and notice that he only uses 5 pairs of strings, just like the old classic ones ). Maqam is Bayyati:
scale: D, E(1/2 bimol), F, G, A, B (bimol), C, D.
Also at minute 4.05 he decorates the improvisation with some "Muhayyar" maqam (where the B bimol becomes B half bimol).
