I have to say, in Mike Marshall's partial defence, that he is not only an excellect mandolin player (shows how difficult oud is), but he hired my band
for one of our best gigs ever, the 1999 "Klezmermania." It was a HUGE crowd at Zellerbach auditorium and it was many listeners' first encounter with
traditional Middle Eastern/North African music. It was a 2-night gig (Thurs. & Sun.) and in the 2 nights we sold 130 freakin' CDs!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of getting my first oud just over two years ago - now I can see the logic of the stringing. Notice though how he knows this is one special
type of instrument!! and it is
