genuine or not?? Khalife...1961
Hi all, can you please try to tell if this is a genuine Khalife oud of the 1960's... we all know the issues with fake Khalife's thanks you all

Well it's not so much an issue of fake Khalifehs but more of Khalifeh ouds sharply dropping in qulaity in the last ten years or so; to the level of
tourist/decoration ouds. Ocassionally you come across a playable one. Having said that I never thought Khalifeh ouds ever came as delicate as the
one above! To me the rosettes dont look like typical Khalifeh style. The label does say that this is a Khlifeh oud - "Oud Making Ali and Muwafaq
Khalifeh" is the direct translation of the main sentence - 1966 AD/1386 hijri. The photo shows a younger looking Ali with a full head of hair. It may
well be genuine, but the nut looks like the ones you get on the cheap current Khalifeh ouds, and the pegs dont look original, but maybe its been
restored in the same workshop. Either way its a nice oud...
