beginner oud attempt
Here is my attempt at improvisation on the oud. I don't know much about arabic style, so please excuse my western style! I hope to get some more up in
the coming weeks and show some improvement. constructive criticism is welcome

Sounds good...
I used to play bass about a million years ago, so I'm really used to using my fingers and not a pick/risha.... so I really struggle with hitting the
strings in a proper manner...
If you do a search on risha technique on this site, there are lots of articles...
Also, SamirCanada made this for me to help me with my poor technique....

Looking forward to hearning more...

Yeah I have been working on my risha technique, but my risha is very cheap plastic and just doesn't sound like it should.
Here's another recording I did this morning. Criticism is appreciated

Hey the recording didn't attach....
When I bought my oud, it came with a risha made from a zip tie.... It works really well, and I haven't found anything better yet....

Reid,
The second sounds 100% better... the pauses really give it something....
Keep it up!

LoL Chris I made that risha from the zip tie.
I also thought it was the best one possible for that oud.
