Turkish usuller and forms

Can someone explain please how a fasil is built? What is the difference between agir semai, beste and kar? Also do you know of a website that shows turkish usuller like maqamworld shows arabic iqa`at? Or at least tell me what is usul sakil (48/4).
Thanks

Thanks that's a great site with what looks like some interesting articles. Unfortunately it doesn't go into detail explaining seyir of maklamar and usuls but it looks like some good reading.

For any of you who do speak turkish I've found a few sites that look like they really go into detail explaining seyir, which for me is great because I want to learn more about turkish music. Maybe it's time to find a turkish teacher..

hi masel,

there are two books in english that you might find helpful,

- walter feldman, "music of the ottoman court" (1996)
- karl signell, "makam, modal practice in turkish art music" (1986)

both books have extended discussions of makams and feldman's book has a long discussion of fasil.
