What a beauty and in remarkable condition for a 123year old. Thanks for the pics.
In the label shot, it apprears that the seams are reinforced with paper. I was under the impression
that, in the past, glue and sawdust were used to reinforce the joint. However I dont know if that
is true or not...can someone confirm.
Samer, do you have a sound clip? It would be something to listen to this ancient.
Thanks again for sharing.

its an amazing oud, great condition for its age, plus all parts are original.
I wish I was in a condition to buy such an oud.
I will ask the owner if he can get me a sound sample and more pictures.
Thanks,

Dear All,
I’m very tempted to buy this oud, Can any of you estimate the real value of this oud so I can negotiate with the seller.

Indeed this oud is real beauty, but I'm nearly sure it has been restored. Difficult to believe the soundboard is so well after 123 years, and without
any varnish.
Then I may be wrong, but if there were any restoration it is important to know which kind. I mean if there was any change to the soundboard or
brassing, this is not a Nahat anymore.
For the value...in any case surevaluate. In syria I was proposed once an abdo Nahat, for 400 euros. But this was when I beginned oud and didn't took
the offer, didn't realized. Now with the increase of demand, and the fact oud is becoming always more popular in occidental countries, prices are
flying away, and they may even ask you a whole year of syrian salary for this oud.
To my point I prefer staying with actual maker, who are really making great work, to my point better to part of restored old ouds, even if there is
not the magic of playing an old instrument...but to be totally honest, I still keeping an eye, to seek for an old original oud at a good price when I
go there.
Regards

hey guys
wow nice oud, looks amazingly clean and all. good luck with it and all what ever you do with it.
SUZ_I_DIL: yr right abotu the face of the oud , its hard to belive that there is no varnish , but my great uncle got a nahat from i think 1904, that
is still intact, i told peopel this a few years back. and he plays it like no other. he lives in LOndon, he is older now and he keeps telling my dad
its in supurb condtion and all. he said "as long as you take care of yr stuff , it will take care of you".
so anything is possable. plus being in dry area it sometimes couses warping problem , no?
ttyl

in good place and good careful hands why not.

Thanks for your advice and nice comments. I went to see the oud again, I took an expert with me this time who is being dealing with Nahat ouds for all
his life.
He confirmed that all parts are original, even the chest ! he was amazed as well.
the oud is owned by a family who are into music and and the know the value of such a oud.
Maybe that’s why it was very well kept.
Im really considering buying it now.
I will keep you posted if I end up buying it.
