Doha Qatar
Hi
Im wondering if anybody can help me looking around for an Oud shop in Doha Qatar. I will be transit in Doha for 7 hrs and plan to do a quick city tour
before move on to Cairo end of this month. We will be mainly at the city center visiting the doha trade center, camel market, beach area etc. and hope
that I could find some times to look around for a Music shop that mainly sell Oud! Any help would be highly appreciate it!

Man, I wish I saw this post earlier. I used to live in Doha, and I know the son of the 3ood maker that made Farid's 3oods.
This guy, who owns "Al Sharq Music" store is a wizard that just makes the most magnificant and most beautiful 3oods I have ever seen!
The sound is incredible. You have to see it urself to believe.

Hi Chris
I manage to find an Oud shop while in DOHA and its belong to Mourice Farouk Shehata (near the international airport) A lot of Oud in various range,
the professional Oud mainly by Mourice himself and he also stock up some more affordable and good quality Oud there!
Thanks for the note-I might check out the Al Sharq Music shop on my next visit later this year insyallah.

Hello,
sorry for not answering on time.
I haven't been to Doha for about six years, but last time I was there, the shop was located on "Al-Sad" street. The maker is
lebanese from an Armenian origin, like you as evident from ur name I think.
He has pictures of his Dad with Farid.
The current maker/owner made 3oods for many singers, to which he sent these 3oods as gifts. He sold a 3ood for Ragheb, who he has a pictures for in
his shop depicting him with Ragheb. he sold him a really beautiful 3ood, with drawings of flying pigeons all over the board. Ragheb played with the
same 3ood on TV several days later.
I asked my friend for his number and he prvided me with this
(974) 444 2464
At any rate, you probably will easily find him in the phone book in Qatar. It is a small city, you won't have a problem finding him.
You might wanna try calling him. I tried calling from Pennsylvania, but the signal was so weak I wasn't able to talk to him.
Some of his 3oods are very small, but has an unbelievable sound to them.
I was at his shop once and saw a really nice 3ood that had an amazing and I mean amazing sound. He said the price for it was 1200 riyals, but he had
reduced it, since there was a small defect with it. The back of the 3ood was a little weird, but no biggy. I bought it for 400 riyals, which is
close to 120 dollars. My dad made me return ( I was 15) it the next day, you know, him being the ultimate authority on music, even though he
doesn't even know the basics. I will never forget that incident.
