a greek "barbat"..
Hi everyone!
I want to introduce my new instrument..
I needed an oud with an arabic tuning range but at the same time i didn't want the traditional sound so i deicided to try something different.
I asked Dimitris Rapakousios to make a 5 course oud according to the proportions of Hossein Behroozinia's Barbat: smaller bowl and longer neck.
Dimitris made a wonderful work and added an "ottoman" taste to the overall design and sound quality, the result is this charming instrument:

Awsome barbat, but the soundhole should be a little closer up towards the neck
What wood did he use for the bowl?

you're perfectly right Peyman, maybe that's what makes this instrument something a little "hybrid"
