Robert Garfias website
Hello all
not really oud related but really interesting..
I wanted to share this link:
https://eee.uci.edu/programs/rgarfias/films.html
Robert Garfias (ethnomusicology) has here some '60/'70 video recordings very interestings, from here comes one of the few video of Hamza el Din that
you can see on youtube, "Helalisa", and here there's also a video with the tar coming from the same sessions. You can see also video of the greatest
rubab player of all times, Ustad Mohammed Omar (one of these is not on youtube); video of Tanbur, classic ottoman ensemble, chinese guqin, classic
indian music, ecc.
If you search on this website you can also find recordins, field-recordings and beautiful photos
Ale.

Thanks so much for this. I have a beautiful recording, given to me by a friend, of Zia Muhiuddin Dagar. Nice to see him in the flesh.
Don't you just love the titles some Chinese pieces have?

Those are wonderful videos - I donĀ“t know how many times I have watched the Necdet Yasar tanbur clips. Seeing Z.M.Dagar is great, too (rudra vina and
its playing techique are wierd indeed, but the sound and music are great!).
Many (or all?) of these videos can now been seen also in YouTube - which is great, as more people get to see them.

yes, indeed there are many of these on youtube but not all or maybe I couldn't find it
For exemple, I never saw the one with tar of El Din and also one of Mohammad Omar, usually the video are uploaded on youtube from different sources
and frequently with different ways of writing the name
