Playalong`s

Hi Oudies,:wavey:
does anybody know a website where I can find percussion-loops wich are usefull to play along with the oud?
I searched youtube and googled a lot, but all the things I found was percussion solos.Shure, lots of great stuff, but to much rhythm-changes to play along with.
Anyway, I WANT TO PLAY THE SOLO:D

Unfortunately I do not know a percussionist who plays arabic, turkey or any kind of oriental style.
Only rockers all around me:xtreme::airguitar:

So, if there is someone out in the world, desert, or at least in the forum who can help me,dont hasitate to let me know.

All the best

Marcus

On this website there are some rythm record with a riq:
http://www.maqamworld.com/rhythms/muwashahat3.html#muhajjar
By recording them on an audio device maybe you can make a decent loop.

For real numeric rythm loop, you can find in mus2okur program:
http://www.musiki.org/

Hope this help

Hi,

I used this CD with many different rhythms:
http://www.amazon.fr/40-rythmes-du-Moyen-Orient/dp/B00005YTMJ
But I am sure that there are other Cd's like this around.

Now, to obtain the rhythm loops, you download the tracks you interested in on your computer. Then using a wave editor you select precisely and crop one cycle of the rhythm. After, you duplicate the cycle enough times (say, up to a 10 minutes track) and save the result as a .wav file. After you can burn the files on a CD and play them on a standard CD player. The critical step is the precise cutting of the rhythm cycle.

If you don't have a wave editor, this one is free:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I hope it helps!

Hey Marcus try wierd metronome: http://www.pinkandaint.com/weirdmet.shtml the sound isn't like real drums but you can program any rhythm you want into it, it's free, easy to use and very light.

Hi all:wavey:
thanks for your help!!
Finally I tried to make some loops out of the riq-tracks from maqamworld. They are a bit unspectacullary but they work.
Now I´m surfin`around in some Percussion-forums. Maybe I`ll find someone who likes his recordings to be used sencefully.

But, in the end it MUST be a real, human, nice and smiling player. It`ll be so much more fun and satisfying to interact with someone who get the same kind of "oriental-music-gooseskin(?) that I get (sometimes ) while playing oud.

So thanks again, stay tuned and healthy!!

All the best

Marcus
