I love how you cant hear the oud amongst the instruments. Its useless in such a group. And then his solo, I wish he didnt play. Thats gotta be an
awful solo, no direction and out of tune. Rubbish. Nice composition, but as for oud, he should stay at home.
Naughty James.

What a wonderful piece and what a wonderful ensemble of first class musicians. I loved every aspect of it.

Abou Khalil is one of the greatest jazzmen nowadays and he has very personal compositions. His solos have often certain tendency to the atonality,
which I don't like very much (for instance, his solo album 'Il sospiro' is quite boring)
But he masters the eagle risha like nobody.
I would better prefer that the drummer stayed at home.

Not like you to be provocative, James...
But you have a point about the balance - 1 oud vs 2 tubas, 2 trumpets and a French horn. Hmm.

Thanks Dave I have nothing better to do But, I just dont get it abou khalil and why people like him so much, I wouldnt call him a jazzman or an oud player, I
think its the players he surrounds himself with that have made him who he is. Listen to the oud, its out of tune (or is it my ears?), and he is
'atonal' because he cant be otherwise...great piece besides that, composition and brass players were great.
Provocative James.
