Byzantine (Greek & Arabic) cantor request!!

Greetings all --

We are searching for some excellent Byzantine cantors for our wedding in California (Santa Barbara) in early September, and thought someone on this list might be able to make recommendations.

We need at least one Greek cantor & one Arabic cantor, but it would be wonderful to have more. In terms of style, we are looking for the authentic, Constantinopolitan byzantine-ottoman chant -- the religious stuff that sounds like Kani Karaca, Antonis Dalgas, Hafiz Burhan etc!! I figured people on this list would understand :xtreme:

Yassas/Marhaba,

Have you triend contacting the local Orthodox Christian communities?

There is a small Orthodox school in Goleta: http://www.sjda.net/ (Maybe the religious director, Father Speier, might have some ideas or contacts.) (We met a kid who is a student there during last year's summer vacation.)

Failing that, maybe try calling the churches in L.A. (http://www.stsophia.org/; http://www.antiochianladiocese.org/) I say call, since I've never had great luck with e-mailing Eastern Christian communities...

Bettawfeeq & Kalí tíhi,
John
