alternative tunings

I know there are a variety of tunings for oud, but I've been experimenting with some guitar-type tunings and really enjoying it. Has anyone else here ever tuned DADF#AD (open D)? It gives the oud an interesting sonic blend...part blues, part Arabic, and part Celtic. I'll try to post a sample some time.
