It says

"The work of Thikran in Beirut 1956"

there is a word at the end that I can't read very well. I think it reads albasta, which could be the location.

More precisely "The Workshop of Thikran". And yes the last word may be "Al Basta" which is a region in Beirut.
Though, I've never heard of this maker in Lebanon.
Can we have pictures of the oud?

Sure--I'll get some pictures up later today.
The maker is Dikran (or, I guess, Thikran) Najarian. Very good maker. I'll try to get some pictures of the oud up later today.

Oops.. I missed the very first post

It's then Dikran Najarian.. the grand father of Viken Najrian who currently builds ouds. It's an odd way of writing "Dikran" in Arabic, it is pronounced more like "Deekran".

I think Viken is in the US right?

Yes, Anaheim, California.
And "Deekran" would be the correct way to pronounce the name.

Hi Folks,

I've seen the label from one of Dikran's oud's -- the Armenian letters for his first name would be pronounced Deekran. Lovely oud ! Can't wait to hear it ;).

Regards..Paul
