Yes, Katakofka, Riverdance is irish music. Not old traditional tunes, so may be we have to call it "new irish music"?
Themes have been recently composed to be suitable for dancers in big shows, so they are more catchy than subtle ... but in the construction and tonalities we recognise irish dances: reels, jigs.....etc.
......and these tunes , arranged in this way, can travel even in China!!!Like longas.

They have been very popular in Japan for a while. They are great musicians and have taken Japan by storm over the last few years. But I'm not crazy about their music. I do think it is the Chinese equal of something like Riverdance. Very generic songs done with interesting instruments.

Mood: Playing Oud with Eagle plectrum...

:D Man, even longas are made in china now!
But hay it is a great work though...
Of course some missing notes, but the way they play it very nice.
the women were selected by audition from more than 4,000 contestants. Each woman is classically-trained, and the band members come from various conservatories in the People's Republic of China (PRC), including the China Academy of Music, the Chinese National Orchestra, and the Central Conservatory of Music.

well ok,they are sweet, they are nice girls, but let's get serious......this is NOT sehnaz......the instruments are not tunned to play this kind of music.... sehnaz,or makams like ussak, they just can't......
but they play well what the instruments have the posibility to play....don't do the mistakes that '''the quitar plays everything''',you know what I mean...
Personal opinion

What I am saying is that the instruments that are used to play this longa most of them are with frets, and tunned not in the positions and the alterations-kommas that is this masterpiece writen to be performed.....
There was some years ago that quitar can plays everythink,on makam speaking....well this is not true, only if it is fretless,or Lavta or Tanbur,kanun.....
A kanun for exemple can play western classical music and also modes-makams.....the piano can not, only if it is special tunned....like Yorgo Bacanos did once upon a time......
Personal opinion ofcourse....
